Hmm…There is just something about these paintings that make them irresistible!
Australian artist Julian Meagher worked as a medical doctor, but quit to pursue painting full-time. You don’t hear that happening very often, however taking a road less traveled by seems to have worked out brilliantly for him.
The artist uses multiple layers of thinned oil paint to achieve an effect that resembles watercolor. Though he seems to prefer a very soft color palette and delicate form, his subject matter is often traditionally masculine, like tattoos, beer bottles, and sports players (see more of these examples on his website). For the post, I selected paintings with less of this male influence because I felt personally drawn to them (I especially love the top two!).
